Annual Events
Events are a powerful platform to generate positive financial gains, but more importantly, have a greater positive impact on the society where they take place. With proper planning, any event has the ability to impact lives throughout the community. The events held in Sweetwater County continue to improve the overall health of our community and the quality of life of its residents. This is evident with the many continuous longtime events such as Wyoming’s Big Show, the Red Desert Roundup Rodeo, and the Sweetwater Speedway stock car races.
Wyoming's Big Show
When Wyoming wants to kick up its heels, it does it during The Big Show at the Sweetwater Events Complex. Each summer, Wyoming’s Big Show draws folks from hundreds of miles to Sweetwater County. The Big Show delivers on fun with family-friendly carnival rides, a wide variety of delicious dining options, evening concerts and 4-H and livestock exhibits.
Sweetwater Speedway
Racing comes hard and fast at the Sweetwater Speedway. Cheer on the dwarf cars, late models, enduros, even a a smash and bash derby on the high banked 3/8-mile dirt track.
Run with the Horses Marathon
This awesome city and trail marathon is a lifetime experience as runners, pass by wild horses that are curious as to what they are doing on the trail. Many runners get beautiful photos with wild horses up close! With a 7-hour time limit, this fun race will end just in time for you to have a nice cold beer and enjoy our DJ!
Red Desert Roundup Rodeo
Founded in 1978, the Red Desert Roundup Rodeo is a PRCA, pro-rodeo that is held annually the last full weekend of July in Rock Springs, Wyoming at the Sweetwater Events Complex. We also hold an annual Red Desert Roundup Parade and Golf Tournament.
Burbot Bash
Enter one of the best ice-fishing tournaments in the west and help maintain the trophy fishery in Flaming Gorge! Over $30,000 in cash and prizes are up for grabs in this family friendly winter event.
Riverfest
Join the Green River Chamber in the celebration of our amazing river! Always the third weekend on August 16th and 17th, we host the River Festival, a fun-packed two-day event! This event has something fun for everyone: music, beer, vendors, our shrimp boil, food trucks, and once it gets dark, FIREWORKS!
Blues 'n Brews
Enjoy a cold brew and live music! Ticket includes admission, musical entertainment, unlimited 7oz samples, and a commemorative sample glass.

Bud Cup Hockey Tournament
The Rock Springs Men's Hockey Association (RSMHA), a member of the Amateur Hockey Association (AHA), hosts this tournament every year as a fundraiser for a child in need. Held at the Rock Springs Recreation Center in Rock Springs, WY, this is an AHA sanctioned tournament, the admission to the tournament is FREE and open to the public!
